Corporation of London

‘Continually enhancing the customer experience’

The Corporation of London website provides a wide range of content, features and functions to meet the needs of a diverse range of user groups both within the UK and internationally. In 2004 it was decided that research should be undertaken that would identify key user groups and usage patterns, highlight any usability issues and provide guidance on changes in design that would be needed to achieve compliance with the guidelines laid down on web accessibility by the W3C WAI. fhios was appointed to undertake this work.

fhios employed a number of research techniques to meet the clients needs. The key activities in this project were Statistical analysis (Web log analytics), Accessibility auditing, Usability testing and Team Workshops. The project took two months to complete and identified a range of design changes that would need to be made for Accessibility compliance and to enhance the overall usability of the site

Projects & Results

Through a multiple stage research process, fhios were able to ensure that key business objectives were being met throughout the project and that the client's online team were fully engaged at all times so that the principles and best practice could be adopted internally to ensure future changes in design, content and functionality adhered to usability principles and were W3C compliant..

Through the team workshops, this 'hands-on' approach ensured that the key findings from the research could be questioned and understood by all of the team members, providing an excellent opportunity to discuss the implications of the recommendations and address how they could be best implemented to meet the future business goals of the organisation.
